Slippery floors, smeared walls and machine parts, toxic fumes in the air - these are the by-products of using lubricants and coolants in metalworking when no separation systems are in use. In addition to creating a high-maintenance and unpleasant work environment, oil mist can thus become a serious hazard to people and machinery. With Donaldson Torit® we therefore offer a wide range of oil mist separators as well as oil mist filters to remove contaminants in the submicron range from the operating atmosphere.
These oil mist separators belong to the family of cartridge devices specifically designed for the separation of oil and emulsion mist. The fields of application include all material machining processes where oil or emulsion lubrication or cooling is applied during machining (lathe, milling machine, CNC machining center, wet grinding, etc.).
Dryflo® mist collectors provide effective and efficient mist filtration by reducing coolant and oil mist production in a machine-mountable unit. Filtration takes place in three stages, with each stage ensuring maximum efficiency.
Dryflo filter media
Dryflo filter media is made from proprietary synthetic media that contains both small and large fibers for optimal filtration. The smaller fibers deliver increased filtration efficiency. After the mist is collected and combined, the larger fibers allow the oil to drain from the filter. The media also incorporates a proprietary wave process that maintains a steady air flow and lower pressure while the media is saturated with oil.
The main advantage of the cartridge technology used is the ability to regenerate. This, in addition to the excellent and permanently high separation efficiency, is the guarantee for a long filter life. Measurements from the University of North Carolina (UNC) prove that the performance of the DryFlo mist collector increases during use and remains at a high value until the end of its service life.
Central or local installation
The Donaldson Torit oil mist collector product line can meet any air volume requirement (300-40,000 m3/h). Local extractors with 2,000 - 3,000 m3/h capacity can usually be installed directly on or near processing machines due to their size. In the case of a larger air requirement, centralized expansion with an appropriately dimensioned piping system is more common. Of course, with centralized systems, special focus must be placed on the piping. Tightness, the material resistance and the appropriate dimensioning are of particular importance.
