Clean cooling water, longer service life: Complete solution for an aluminum foundry
Our long-standing customer operates a cooling water system made of carbon steel pipes in an aluminum foundry. Until now, the system has been filled and refilled with untreated water. Over time, this has led to severe corrosion in the pipes.
The customer was therefore looking for a partner who could flush and clean the existing pipe system and then plan and install a customized water treatment system – with the aim of reliably preventing future corrosion.
Together with a specialized water treatment partner, our experts implemented this task. While our partner took care of the chemical treatment, IMEX Filtertechnika focused on the appropriate filtration technology.
The new water treatment plant now produces chemically treated RO water in a buffer tank. This tank supplies the entire cooling circuit – both during initial filling and automatic replenishment. A bag filter housing was installed for pre-filtration, and an automatic filter in the actual cooling circuit ensures that solid contaminants are continuously removed.
The benefits for the customer are clear: no more dirty or corroded pipes, significantly lower maintenance costs, and a much longer system service life. The cooling water system now operates more reliably, efficiently, and safely.
